C.V. Raman and the Press: Science Reporting and Image Building
Part 1: Kolkata Period
C.V. Raman and his associates in 1928 made a discovery which led to the foundation of the Raman Spectroscopy. For his work on light scattering and the discovery named after him, in 1930 he was awarded the Physics Nobel Prize. Until the day, he remains India’s only Nobel Laureate in the field of science. During his life-time he reached the status of demi god. Not surprisingly there are number of biographies and articles which deal with various aspects of his life and science. Raman’s interaction with the local- and international media remained unexplored. The present book intends to fill the gap.
