The book describes mathematical tools to investigate diffraction of water waves. The foun-dations of these techniques where given by Arnold Sommerfeld. The book emphasizes on integral transforms such as Laplace, Hilbert, Havelock, Mellin, Legendre, Mathieu among oth-ers. Furthermore, double integral transforms are studied. Different coordinate systems are also discussed. The actual calculations are done in detail. An appendix summarizes curvilinear co- ordinates, special functions such as sine and cosine integrals, and the separation of variables for partial differential equations. The book provides a rich source of mathematical tools ap- plied in this special field of hydrodynamics, and it is a useful addition to the literature in this research field.
