Anodic Dissolution and Polarization Behavior of DO3 Iron Aluminides in Sulfuric Acid
The application of intermetallic iron aluminides in aqueous environments is a recent aspiration due to the strong progression in alieving the material’s inherently poor room-temperature mechanical properties. In order to evaluate the suitability of these materials under aqueous conditions, however, a fundamental understanding of their electrochemical behavior must be achieved. In line with this, the main objective of this research is to understand the anodic dissolution and adsorption mechanisms at the corrosion potential of selected DO3 iron aluminides in 0.25 M H2SO4.
