Abstract: | P.N. Ghosh (1884–1946) was a contemporary of renowned scientists such as S.N. Bose, C.V. Raman, and M.N. Saha. In the second decade of the 20th century, when the College of Science and Technology was established in Calcutta with the support of grants from local Bengali patriots, Ghosh was appointed as one of its first professors. P.N. Ghosh, from the University of Calcutta, is credited with founding India's first Department of Applied Physics. This book examines Ghosh’s: - Efforts in establishing the Applied Physics Department, - Scientific contributions, and - Role in shaping the future of India's scientific instruments industry. | ||||||
