Systematic Design of Predictive Models of the LDPE Polymerization up to the Industrial Scale
This dissertation presents a comprehensive modeling framework for LDPE production, bridging the gap between laboratory experiments and industrial optimization. By correlating boundary layer thickness with fluid dynamics, the work establishes a robust tool for process enhancement. Through the integration of modular tube reactor data and innovative CFD featuring trajectory-based Monte-Carlo simulations, individual particle paths are tracked to resolve behavior in the near-wall region. This approach provides a powerful method to identify the drivers behind high-molecular weight material formation and fouling, specifically analyzing the impact of local kinetics and diffusion effects.
