Southern Ghanaian reference value for nickel in urine
This doctoral thesis is part of the `Ghana Environmental Toxicology Project`, which was started in 2015 by RWTH Aachen University, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the University of Ghana (Legon University). Phase one of this project was based at the e-waste dump Agbogbloshie in Accra, where waste often originated from western countries is processed under adverse conditions leading to heavy metal contamination. Unfortunately, these findings could only be compared to Western figures, which is why phase two of the project was called into life. This doctoral thesis suggests a reference value for nickel in urine for the general population in Southern Ghana and therefore aims to raise awareness about heavy metal pollution and its sources in Ghana.
