Multi Modal Data Fusion in X-ray Computed Tomography
The inspection of large and heavily absorbing specimens in industrial X-ray computed tomography can cause severe artifacts, either due to limited penetration or a limited angular range. By means of further imaging modalities, such as optical 3D scanning, ultrasonic testing and neutron imaging, one is able to acquire additional and complementary data. Using the complementary data acquired through these techniques, we developed and implemented several (iterative) CT reconstruction methods capable of dealing with such prior knowledge and we demonstrated an explicit enhancement of the final image quality.
