Development of Dynamic Models with Spatial Resolution for Electrochemical Energy Converters as Basis for Control and Management Strategies
Within this thesis a tool which allows combining the analysis of the impact of the system management and load profile on the internal parameters inside electrochemical gas or fluid cells such as distribution of potential, current density and concentration of reactant has been developed. The focus is on high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (HT-PEMFCs) and all-vanadium redox-flow batteries (VRFBs). The thesis concentrates on implementation and validation of the models. The developed models offer the opportunity to optimize flow fields or control strategies in the future.
Keywords: dynamic spatial model; system model; control strategies; fuel cell; redox-flow battery
