Joint Knowledge Production and Collaboration in Ethnomusicological Research
This publication is an outcome of the 17th symposium of the European Seminar in Ethnomusicology (ESEM) hosted at the Institute for Ethnomusicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Contributions of the symposium focused on the topic of “Joint Knowledge Production and Collaboration in Research”. The call for papers explicitly invited presentations on a broad range of collaborations in research processes, including the cooperation with expert individuals or communities of practice (online and onsite, local and translocal) as well as academic collaborations with any other field towards inter- and transdisciplinary research. The intention was to bring to light the potential and further-reaching possibilities, but also possible challenges and disadvantages that might derive from such approaches. Accordingly, authors focused on collaboration with experts in the field, interdisciplinary collaborations, co-authorship, as well as alternative, community-oriented forms of research output.
