Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt die Problematik der äquivalenten Übersetzung von konnotativen Bedeutungen in der arabischen Literatur. Als Forschungsgrundlage dienten Romane der palästinensischen Autorin Sahar Khalifa und deren Übersetzungen ins Deutsche. Ein spezieller Fokus liegt auf dem Roman aṣ-Ṣabbār (1976), auf Deutsch „Der Feigenkaktus“ aus der frühen Schaffensphase der Autorin, und dem aus einer späteren Schaffensphase stammenden Roman al-Mīrāṯ (1997), auf Deutsch „Das Erbe“.
