Abstract: | Sensor-based sorting is an essential technology in processing primary and secondary raw material. Over the past 30 years, sensor technology has provided important development impulses for increasing the efficiencies of processing procedures and processing chains regarding throughput, yield, and product quality. However, increasing material composition and product design complexity as well as handling of non-bulk materials require further improvements in sensor-based sorting.
Furthermore, digital characterization of material flows opens a new role for sensor technology in process chains. Sensor-based material flow characterization methods can provide new process insights, enable an automatic process and machine control, and make material flow data available across the value chain, which could greatly increase the process performance and generated ecological and economic benefits. These latest solutions and findings, new applications and developments are key aspects of the 9th international conference "Sensor-Based Sorting & Control 2022". | ||||
